SHERIDAN — Cases of teen dating violence have increased in recent years, according to the Sheridan Advocacy and Resource Center and Uprising. February marks Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.
While Uprising’s primary mission is to combat human trafficking through awareness, education and outreach, Executive Director Terri Markham said teen dating violence is an issue she encounters regularly.
“I feel like a huge part of my job deals with teen dating violence because I’m in the schools talking to youth about all the exploitation and trafficking based stuff and about online safety and grooming,” Markham said.
