SHERIDAN — For years, popular media has controlled the public’s perception of sex trafficking, said Lt. Derek Morrell with the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office.
Movies like ‘Sound of Freedom,’ ‘Taken’ and ‘The Whistleblower’ depict sex trafficking as international crime rings and pimp-controlled operations where youth are taken from their homes. While this does account for some trafficking cases, it’s not all or even most.
