We are starting an Uprising to end sex trafficking in Wyoming and beyond, we need you to join the cause!

No matter who you are, or how much time you have, you can get involved. Educate yourself on the issue, join our advocacy campaigns or volunteer! Every action matters and the more people who know the signs of trafficking the smaller the world becomes for those who buy and sell people.

HOW TO VOLUNTEER:

  • Step 1: Submit an online application

This includes links for a background check, confidentiality agreement, and photo release form. A self-paid background check is required for all Uprising volunteers age 18 and above. By covering the $31.95 cost, you are supporting the work we are doing. Please keep in mind that criminal history is not an automatic disqualifier to volunteer with us.

  • Step 2: Wait for background check clearance.

It may take 7-14 business days for us to receive the completed results of your background check back. Once your clearance has come through, you will be emailed by an Uprising staff member with access to the volunteer portal.

  • Step 3: Log in to the volunteer portal and complete the training materials.

This includes mandatory information about our organization and optional resources for further self-learning. From start to finish, you can expect to spend about 4-6 hours onboarding as a volunteer with us, depending on what volunteer opportunity you would like to pursue.

  • Step 4: Submit confirmation.

Once you complete the materials, submit confirmation of completion in the volunteer portal. At this point, you will be added to our list of active volunteers, added to the google calendar, and emailed semi-regularly with volunteer opportunities.

Review our FAQ below and contact us if you have any additional questions.

FAQ

Yes, we ask that volunteers complete a dual-training protocol where they will learn online through a partner, JusticeU, and will take part in some live or in-person instruction with Uprising staff. You will be able to access this information through the volunteer portal during the onboarding process.

Yes, we understand that not every volunteer is ready to fully jump in, and there are always ways to lend your time and talents to Uprising. Some examples of ways to help that do not require completing our application and onboarding process are:

  • Host an event! Help to schedule, organize, and market an awareness or educational event in your community and invite Uprising to speak.
  • Host a fundraiser! Bake sales, garage sales, golf tournaments, bingo nights, the sky is the limit. Finding unique ways to raise funds fills a tangible need that Uprising has.
  • Serve on a committee! Committee members report directly to our Board of Directors and committees range from fundraising and finance to events and volunteers. Committee members have no terms and it is less commitment than serving on the Board of Directors.
  • Special skills! If you have a special skill, like photography or design, there may be ways you can volunteer your talents to help Uprising with projects without needing to onboard.

If you have a way you would like to volunteer without onboarding please contact us at info@uprisingwyo.org to discuss!

We are able to offer select scholarships that cover the cost of the $31.95 background check. There are details on this process in the volunteer application. We do not want the cost to be a barrier. If you need a scholarship, please contact us at info@uprisingwyo.org.
